Bulgarian Athletic Federation is honoured of hosting the First Balkan Mountain Running Championships - Sapareva Banya 2008. I am extremely happy to welcome in our beautiful country the best mountain runners of the Balkans. Mountain Running races are steadily growing more popular among athletes all around Europe and the world sharing the common desire to give nothing less than their best. Uphill racing is one the toughest challenges. It is recognised as a true test of endurance, ability, skills and wise preparation. I believe you will appreciate the values of the carefully planned running trails and will find your stay at the natural beauty of the region exciting and enjoyable. A driving force behind the striving for a perfect First Balkan Mountain Running Championships is that Sapareva Banya is bidding for the European Mountain Running Championships 2010. You are familiar with the organizational potential of Bulgarian Athletic Federation; the local staff is also experienced, capable and devoted, therefore I am confident you will be satisfied with the excellent conduct of the competition.
